1967 AMC Ambassador DPL Convertible for Sale

Carrollton, TX
Jan 01, 2024
1967 American Motors Ambassador DPL convertible. - ~1260 of this body style produced. ~10-12 known to exist in any kind of restored condition- I'm the third owner. I bought it about 15 years ago and embarked upon its restoration at that time as described below using NOS parts and parts from other Ambassadors- 343 V8 4bbl - engine was restored by previous owner - probably less than 2k miles on the rebuild- auto trans, pwr steering, pwr brakes, electric windows, air conditioning- I had the trans rebuilt - less than a few hundred miles on the rebuild- overall runs strong- original color was Barbados Blue Metallic. I was the first to do a repaint- exterior was taken down to bare metal, there was no bondo, small rust areas around the wheel wells cut out and metal welded back in. Primed and painted original Barbados Blue Metallic with original Dulux pant system- Engine repainted with original factory colors- all chrome pieces including bumpers were re-chromed. - new convertible top custom made using the old top as pattern. Top raise and lower equipment and hardware original and in working condition- interior re-upholstered with original color vinyl custom stamped from the original molds (I was lucky enough to find these! ). Extra roll of vinyl since I had to buy minimum lot- carpet replaced with NOS that I found in California- dash sent to California for rrestoration using molds patterned after the originals- door panels restored in Oregon using template patterned after the original- steering wheel restored, clock rebuilt, radio replaced- all glass is original- new rubber for door and openings all around (missing rubber on driver side A frame)- Replaced tires with original style Firestone red-line bias ply tires. Known Issues: - the car has been sitting in the garage under cover for the whole time I've owned it, except for short Sunday drives. It isn't showing any rust; but needs some TLC- air conditioning needs filter dryer and charge. The compressor and system was working but charge was lost when engine was being repainted. - electric windows need manual help going up and down. Motors need rebuilt- electrical system was 100% functional; but now none of the dash instruments work. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I don't expect it could be much. - gas talk has developed what seems to be pinhole leak in two places. Leaks are very small (not leaving puddle) but tank will likely need to be lowered to determine the problem and fix. - the ethanol in today's gas took the diaphragm out of the original engine mounted fuel pump. The fuel pump was replaced with unit that was not NOS and did not have the built in filter. A third party filter was fitted but does not look professional and certainly is not consistent with the all original nature of the vehicle. This all needs to be replaced with an NOS pump- even when all electrics were working, the horn was intermittent. - the Firestone red lines have been on the vehicle for over ten years. They don't look dry rotted and I've recently driven on them; but it would be prudent to put on new tires- the power brakes are very grabby and touchy. I suspect this is from the extended garaging and intermittent use and can easily be corrected. - the driver side mirror seems not to have been replaced on the body in the correct position after the re-paint, since it can't seem to be aimed properly. The mirror should be removed and repositioned in the appropriate place. I have a bunch of parts including a carburetor, radiator, roll of vinyl, radio etc I have all the manuals and marketing material, and all the receipts from the restoration work that I did. For sale is a 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster. The engine starts right away and works just fine, needs a rear main seal to stop oil leak. A mechanic can fix this fairly easily and probably a $300-$500 job. Brakes work great. Dual side spare wheels with Ford covers. All tires are in very good condition. Rear Trunk is new and the Rumble seat is in great shape too. The top is in great condition and Chrome is excellent! Has side mirrors and Ford clock rear-view mirror. The grille guard in great shape. This is an older restoration with visible flaws to the paint, but shows very well for its age. This is a great weekend car for parades or photo shoots. This car has all the little extras and nothing is missing. Very rare to find in this condition and at this price! Used Ford Model A 4,238 miles For sale is a 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster. Here is what I have done so far: New sun visors New shift boot New trunk liner New dash face New shift knob New body rubber kit installed and new exterior rubber around all the lights New rubber window scrapers New muffler and tail pipes New insulation under rear carpet New convertible top boot - btw, the top is in outstanding condition and so is the glass Chrome molding kit and new spare moldings come with the car Aluminum Fuchs-style wheels - Stock steel wheels included in the sale New door panels New drain tray on underside of rear engine lid Oil change, brake flush, air filter, transmission fluid changed - all done last fall What I would do if I kept it (or what it needs in my opinion): New carpet New seat covers (rear seat has no tears but is faded) A shifter adjustment (on rare occasions the shifter pops of gear - the forums say to adjust the shifter and linkage)Mechanically the car is solid. The brakes have plenty of service left. The tires are like new. 1,000 miles ago there was an engine out service performed to replace pushrod tub seals, install a new oil cooler, replace the flywheel seal and install a new generator. This car is ready to drive anywere!
