The marriage of a KSS motor with the more current MAC rolling chassis was a fairly common practice that resulted in a far better platform for the OHC KSS motor. Classic Motorcycle and Mechanics tested one in July '92 and came away impressed with the combo. This example was built by a Velo expert during '91 and '92 and acquired by the current owner in 2004. Was rode it occasionally over the next few years and decomissioned it for display in his climate controlled collection in 2008. The machine is a fine example with no mechanical issues. 1947 EL Knucklehead Motorcycle This is an EL model but was built to the 74" FL specs The entire motorcycle was just recently rebuilt from top to bottom. The entire engine was rebuilt but had the old finish left on the outside of everything to match the older look of the bike. The motor was built with a little extra compression, aftermarket cam, and some other performance bits to help it rev up quicker and run faster. Everything was reconditioned OEM or high quality aftermarket, or custom made for the bike. The bike is very light in weight as it has minimal parts on it. Only what is necessary for it to function properly. OEM engine cases in nice condition OEM heads OEM rocker coversaftermarket 74" cylinders (have correct hallmarks on them) OEM 74" flywheels that have been lightened Andrews cam Aftermarket cam gears with lightening holes drilled in them OEM connecting rods Forged aftermarket pistons OEM cam cover Aftermarket oversized valves with new valve guides and springs and retainers OEM distributor Linkert M74B carb All top quality parts were used to build the motor. Transmission is an early panhead OEM case fully rebuilt with all new bushings, bearings, etc with an excellent set of OEM gears. Case was glyptol painted on the inside. Andrews mainshaft Andrews shifter forks Jims bushings, bearings, and seals24t american made sprocket OEM jockey shift lid All top quality components were used in the transmission. Aftermarket early Knucklehead replica frame with the 25 degree rake neck Transmission was raised in the frame to allow for more efficient driveline alignment and to raise the primary cover up for more ground clearance on left turns on the track Frame is in very nice shape and is straight (just not the seatpost was notched slightly because of how close the rear rocker tin is to the post. )European made XA length springer front end. This is a great quality replica of the factory 2" over early Harley Springer Custom aluminum top springer clamp with 7/8" aluminum racer style handlebars Wheels are 19" front and 18" rear star hubs with steel rims Rear brake is an OEM manual drum brake with a custom made large sprocket that is excellent for short and middle length tracks and also 1/8 or 1/4 mile drag racing and hill climbing Brake shoes are OEM cores with a high quality re lined job done to them and the shoes were arcd for the drum (NOT the cheap taiwan made aftermarket shoes)Tires are Allstate Dirtman front and rear tires and are pretty much brand new Clutch is an aftermarket diaphragm style clutch with a custom made aluminum foot clutch. Gas tanks are one off custom built aluminum WR style tanks that were made for this bike. Gas in the left tank, and oil in the right side tank.
