For consignment, an original drivetrain muscle car with W76X block with a tri power intake, horizontal dual front headlights, the unique Pontiac ''beak'' up front on the split grille and bathed in nicely applied and carefully finished nocturne blue.
Inside a Hurst shifter and like a new gleaming blue vinyl interior. All finished off with Pontiac
knock off wheel covers. time to get your classic ''Goat'' groove on. Horizontally lined up on either side dual headlights, a split horizontal grille, a small ''beak'' in front, GTO badging, nice chrome bumper, dual scooped hood, straight steel side slabs all bathed in Nocturne Blue paint best describes the beginnings of this car.
Carrying on, nice trimmings for the glass and a wonderful canvas convertible with a clear plastic rear window. Side slabs are near perfect and sport well minded gaps. The GTO badge on the front quarters are good and correct. Bringing up the rear are the horizontal ribbed bezel taillights which butt up to the edges of the rear quarters. The trunk lid is covering
a NYC 2-bedroom apartment sized trunk. Another pristine chromed bumper below, and on all 4 corners 14-inch Pontiac knockoff wheel covers wrapped in redline tires.
Overall, I'd give the paint a 10 as it is really deep and no inclusions or orange peel to be seen. Also, the blue canvas top is like new. Inside wide vinyl Strato bucket seats in stunning blue are installed. These have tuck and roll inserts and smooth outside bolsters delineated with blue piping. Some chromed side trimmings for the hinges are seen. These front chairs cozy up to a short stick Hurst white ball topped shifter reaches for the driver's hand and sits within the center hump and is within a nice 60's design center console,
complete with a glovebox at the rear. It is topped with ribbed aluminum and is very clean.
The rear bench stretches across the back of the car and offers up plenty of pristine seating for 3 adults. The dash top is padded blue vinyl and creates an overhang for a machine swirl pattern aluminum background and has a lineup of 4 round gauges, all in front of an original wood rimmed X spoke steering wheel. Below is a horizontal ribbed panel that houses all the pulls and knobs as well as an ashtray and the radio. Hanging from the bottom center of the dash hovering just above the console, is a trio of aftermarket gauges in a shiny rounded off edge panel. Carpeting is very nicely preserved blue and snappy GTO embroidered floor mats are above the carpeting to protect it.
The frame and underside of the top are all excellent. Under the hood is a fully restored, painted in a beautiful metallic turquoise engine block showing up at 389 cubes, and is from 1964. It is rated at 348hp and on top is tri power carb setup for the feeding of fossils and air. A Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission is now on back, with a 10-bolt rear with 2.73 gear configuration (stamped as a 3.23). Chromed valve covers, the now chromed small round air cleaner coverings with filters is like 3 shiny aces on top of this beautiful mill.
No surface rust is seen on the suspension parts or floor pans. All is very structurally sound with no invasive rust, solid framing, good rockers patina showing on the floor pans as well as a trunk pan and fuel tank. Independent coil springs for the front with power disc brakes, and 4 link with coil springs for the rear with power drums are on this car. The dual exhaust has a turbo muffler on either side. A wonderful experience as described by our decoder and test driver. She handles great, accelerates like a 348hp car should, and has relatively strong bias free brakes on the panic stop.
Power steering is a nice option, and the interior is fully functional, and all buttoned up the seating and surfaces. Plenty of get up and go so I got up and went. All is looking just fine for the exterior, interior, and drivetrain which is very original and correct under that long hood. A great design year as Pontiac this car celebrates the coming out party on the muscle car front. All boxes are checked in this classic, just turn the key and point the beak nose front end and fly home.
