The pistons were measured, 5mm from the bottom of the skirt and we used.015" or.381mm clearance; as we have with all the engines we've built. While this is larger than the orginial factory clearance of.20mm or.007" the Mahle slipper skirt pistons, with Iron Ferroprint coating, have a bit more expansion than the factory Mahle Pistons with Iron Ferrostan coating. Ferrostan is now illegal to manufacture. The.015" was recommended by Mahle direct.
