1970 Triumph Tiger 650 TR6R for SalePOPULAR

1970 Triumph Tiger 650 TR6R for Sale

Bakersfield, CA
Jan 01, 2024
1970 is often considered the ultimate year for " unit" Triumph motorcycles. They had it all-the classic beauty, more modern 12 volt electrics, twin leading shoe vented front brakes, and other upgrades just before the ugly and problematic " oil in frame" models in '71. The motorcycle offered here is the single carb 650 TR6R or " Tiger" Each Triumph model came in only one color, but different for each year. In '70 the Bonneville was maroon and silver and the Tiger was the color you see here, called " Spring Gold" It is arguably one of the prettiest Triumphs ever and is instantly recognizable as the '70 Tiger. This matching numbers motorcycle was treated to a sympathetic restoration prior to my ownership. It was repainted, engine freshened with new rings and whatever else it needed, some rechroming, and wheels rebuilt with stainless spokes. The seat, wiring, and electrics are all original and in excellent condition. The restoration was done some 20 years ago, and has had approximately 6000 miles since. Everything on the bike is OEM (original manufacture) with no repro parts. The original Champion spark plug caps are present. Even the tank badges are original UK items. A rarity these days, the original British numbered keys are present, including the correct smaller head key for the steering lock (which functions perfectly). The paint looks brand new. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. There are two small chips in the leading edge of the fender that have been touched up and they would not show up in a photo. There is a pinhole size nick in the side of the tank paint. The rest is perfect, like glass. The frame has a couple of small nicks but is otherwise excellent and I believe it is the original paint. The chrome is near perfect with only a minor flaw here and there. All the correct stickers and decals are present and the bike comes with a factory workshop manual, owner's handbook, and the ORIGINAL factory Union numbered keys, including the steering lock key. This is a late production bike and has the correct, later black faced gauges which were phased in mid-year. The tires are older Dunlops and should probably be replaced only due to age-they have plenty of tread. The wheels are original stamped Dunlops upgraded with stainless steel spokes. The chrome is excellent on both wheels except for a small section of the front wheel that is a little foggy-again impossible to photograph but visible to the naked eye on close inspection. Everything on the bike works perfectly. It starts with one or two kicks and runs beautifully. There is no smoke and it shifts and brakes smoothly. A Boyer ignition was installed several years ago and it works flawlessly. It has plenty of power and is a super comfortable mount. It comes with a clear title. Harley-Davidson Panhead. THIS BIKE IS A PROJECT BIKE. I’m the third owner of this bike; it's got the " Toaster" tank and it ’s the Long Wheelbase version.the wheelbase is 3” longer than normal for improved handling. The first owner rode it infrequently for the 35 years he owned it. His son sold it without riding it when his father died. The second owner is a good friend of mine who rebuilds bikes as a hobby; he stripped off a few aftermarket parts and rebuilt/replaced what few parts of the bike needed that. He rode it for fewer than 1000 miles. I bought it from him as my FIRST BIKE. The entire bike is as it was when it rolled off the assembly line (including a complete rebuild of the final drive a couple weeks ago) with 3 exceptions:1) The ignition system and wire set have just been shifted to electronic ignition. It ’s an EME EDL-BOIGNS Digital ignition system to replace the unreliable mechanical system of “condenser and points ” that get out of perfect alignment fairly soon after tuning and begin causing the engine to misfire. The changes are completely internal and not visible even to the trained eye.2) the handlebar is a narrower one that was only sold standard in Europe, not in the U. S.3) the left mirror is an aftermarket one, longer than normal, to permit the rider to see behind him. Important safety measure!4) the installed seat is custom, but the original comes with the bike. I removed it to have it restored, but couldn ’t find someone trustworthy to do the work (flaky, didn ’t follow up with me) Used 1973 BMW R-series 19,200 miles I’m the third owner of this bike; it's got the " Toaster" tank and it ’s the Long Wheelbase version.the wheelbase is 3” longer than normal for improved handling. Bike was purchased 2 1/2 years ago from 2nd owner. Owner was a woman in her early 70's who rode this bike in the 70's and 80's. It had a Vetter fairing and Krauser bags/luggage rack. Mufflers were slip on to accomadate the Krauser bags. The seat was dished out to accept her size. Her husband rode a Concorse during that time. Parts replaced were pipes (Doremi 4 into 4), spokes, all wheel bearings, new bronze swing arm bushings, seat, tires, all engine gaskets and seals, all brake lines + rebuild kits for the master cyl caliper, new clutch cable, new front pads, rear drum brakes were cleaned and reinstalled, chain sprokets(530 chain / sprockets conversion) , new electronic regulator/rectifier, new chain guard, fork seals (disassembled, cleaned-new fork oil), new gas cap gasket. Carbs were cleaned with ultrasonic cleaner, valves were checked / adjusted, cam chain was adjusted. Engine was not disassembled other than to replace gaskets and to polish covers. The problamatic alternator oil seal was replaced with a new pliable seal and should not give you problems. Original petbird could not be salvaged so quality Pingel installed. All other parts are original to the bike. I do not have a tool kit for this bike. Bike does have a chain oil tank / dipstick but the pump is missing. Original paint is in extremly good condition other than one small rock chip on left side of tank and a rub mark on the tail piece from the luggage rack. Gages have not been rebuilt and show the exact mileage. I have a clear Minnesota title but bike is located in Idaho. The bike is ridden often and runs very well. As you can see from the pictures it has a electronic ignition (mech advance) which was installed by the 2nd owner. This has to be one of the original aftermarket ignitions offered and still runs perfect. The neck bearings are still the original ball type and were cleaned inspected and reinstalled. I normally would replace these with the tapered bearings but decided to leave as much original parts as I could. All electrics were checked and as mentioned above I replaced the regulator and rectifier and also wired in a relay which feeds the ignition circuit directly vs through the kill switch. 1975 Benelli Tornado 650SOnly 60 Original Miles!Very Original Parallel Twin Cylinder Original Tool Kit1975 Benelli Tornado 650S with only 60 miles on the clock in running condition. In extremely pristine condition this Benelli Tornado 650S is a perfect showpiece for Benelli ’s unique Italian design and build quality. Indicated on the odometer, this Benelli has only registered 60 miles! Painted in its original a yellow and black color scheme this motorcycle looks amazing. The paint is original and in ideal condition, only very minor imperfections can be found; but are negligible for original 40 year-old motorcycle. Every chrome and stainless steel accessory is original and in very good condition, almost no aging can be found. A black banana seat allows the rider have a comfortable and relaxing experience, with a natural riding position. Under the seat the original red tool kit is still in place with every tool being accounted for. Original handlebars and Veglia gauges are in excellent condition, the handlebars still retain the factory hand grips too. Front and rear turn indicators work along with the original headlight and taillight too. Mechanically this Tornado 650S is powered by a Benelli 650cc parallel-twin four-stroke with overhead valves. The Benelli factory claimed this air-cooled engine produced 57hp and was capable of propelling this motorcycle 117mph. This was due to Benelli ’s engine design being much more advanced t handled by Marzocchi tele-hydraulic front forks and an adjustable rear swing arm. Drum brakes in both front and back help halt this motorcycles immense power and speed. Finally the Metzeler tires are in good condition, with hardly any noticeable road wear. What are you waiting for? This is your chance to buy a 1975 Benelli Tornado 650S, basically new, and be the new owner to own this wonderful Italian touring motorcycle! Making this Benelli a perfect candidate for a showpiece any motorcycle collector who cherishes original motorcycles will envy. This bike has never been wrecked or layed down and carries a clean and clear title. You've heard it before but pictures truly don't do this bike justice. Used 2005 2,000 miles
